Parking in London is not fun; anyone that has tried it will tell you that much. However, such a simple matter should not put you off visiting London completely as there are some fantastic car parks should you know where to look. For example, in Fulham there are 2 car parks located very close to Putney Bridge tube station – from here you can get to almost anywhere in London, and seriously fast. These sites are run by professional owners who offer everything from basic parking to washing your car whilst you shop! However, there is a price attached to this and you can expect to pay at the very least £5 per hour. You have to remember, however, that this is one of the most upmarket locations in London – if you are trying to park on a budget you may wish to consider parking in Northern or Eastern London.
Rather than hunting for car parks the normal way, online and by driving around, you may wish to consider one of the many websites that has popped up offering an eBay-like service for car parking spots. Here, anyone with a piece of land (be it their drive or a dedicated car park) can rent out their space to you at a cost. You can find some amazing bargains on these websites – Fulham car parking can cost as little as £40 per week! This is a serious discount compared to many professional car parking sites. If you park here for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week that works out to just a pound an hour!

If you assess the options available to you in terms of transportation in London then you will almost certainly come to the conclusion that a car is essential. The only flaw with the car is the congestion charge that you will have to pay but this isn’t really an issue – certainly nothing to prevent you from using a car. The problem with public transport is that you can’t control it; a bus and train will always have to stick to the same route regardless of any road works or maintenance works that are occurring ahead of it. The effect of this is that your whole journey can be ruined because you are stuck, unable to change your course. This is the case with a car where, if there is traffic up ahead or road works on the route then you can turn off the road and find your own way to your destination – you are in control of your journey and it isn’t that difficult to read the map! A taxi is another option but we’ve all heard the stories of the taxi drivers taking you the long way to clock a few extra miles if you aren’t acquainted with the area – something that will also cost a lot.
When you arrive in Fulham, make sure that you hire a car – it will be the best decision that you make. You can hire a car that best suits you at a very competitive price and ensure that you don’t end up ruining your journey on public transport!
